Treasurer reports CISA cybersecurity assessment completed and flags large PEIA premium increases

Treasurer Leslie Cummings reported at the Oct. 8 meeting that the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) completed a cybersecurity risk assessment of the town’s water, sewer and billing operations on Oct. 8, 2024. She said the assessment has been received and that staff will review findings and recommendations.
Cummings also told the council she had received notice that PEIA premiums for the next fiscal year are expected to increase by approximately 14 percent and that deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums for employees are rising "by at least 100%." She said she is scheduling a supervisors' meeting to develop options to present to council. Separately, she reminded residents of a flu-shot clinic on Oct. 11, 2024, 9:00–10:30 a.m. and proposed that the town accept donations for hurricane victims, suggesting Samaritan’s Purse or the Cajun Navy 2016 as potential recipients.
