Police move forward on body cameras and tasers; EMS reports increasing transports

Police Chief Ron Godwin told the council he met with an Axon Taser district manager about upgrading the department’s body cameras and that contracts were executed for six body cameras with software and three tasers, with an option to purchase an additional three. The chief said there are two or three funding sources to cover replacement and that the vendor offered delayed payment options to allow immediate ordering.
In the EMS update, provided by EMT Frank Ferrari, staff reported 71 emergency calls and 108 transports to date, including five ALS transports. EMS staff are preparing unit 710 to be designated as a rapid response unit and said the new billing system is improving contract renegotiations and revenue review.
