Selectboard approves engineering bid to build accessible pathway to Starksboro Library

The Selectboard voted to accept a bid from Civil Engineering Associates, Inc., to design an accessible pathway connecting the town office and library and to determine the town's share for the combined project.
Katie Antos Ketcham and Town Administrator Amanda V. said the library "has $25K in grant money to improve the path to the library and $10K of that needs to be spent by October 31st, the remaining $15K doesn’t have a deadline." Two strong bids were received; Civil Engineering Associates was preferred because of municipal experience and permitting expertise for work in the State right of way. The board instructed staff to determine additional town-related costs for the combined campus pathway.
Carin McCarthy moved to accept the Civil Engineering Associates bid and Tony Porter seconded; the motion passed. The board noted permitting with the Agency of Transportation (AOT) may be required for portions of the project in the state right of way and asked Katie and Amanda to confirm any additional scope and cost for the town portion before finalizing budget commitments.
