Fire Chief Dan O’Brien introduced four new members of the Columbia Heights Fire Department at the June 22 City Council meeting, noting their prior service and recent appointments. Jonathan Aldrich and Kyle Hall were named Fire Captains after long involvement with the department; Aldrich began as a fire explorer in 2000 and joined the paid on-call force in 2005, while Hall joined the department in 2009 and was appointed Fire Captain in 2026. Quinn Rod and Alex Katterjohn were presented as firefighter/inspectors, with Rod joining as a paid-on-call firefighter in 2020 and Katterjohn joining in 2025.
O’Brien summarized each new hire's progression through the department and the personnel introduced themselves and thanked the Council. The introductions were presented during the proclamations and presentations portion of the agenda and were accepted by the Council with no separate vote recorded.
