Proposed increases to Police private‑duty rates to be considered at Special Meeting after BOS withheld approval

Finance Manager N. Nau presented proposed changes to the Police Private Duty (PPD) rates: raising the nonprofit rate from $84 to $86, the weekday rate from $122 to $123, and the weekend rate from $163 to $164. The increases are intended to cover contracted pay changes and higher pension contributions for full‑time officers, she said.
N. Nau said the Board of Selectmen did not approve the proposed rates at their July 13 meeting; the Board of Finance will include the rate vote on the Special Meeting agenda. She added that Finance staff will provide comparative rates from nearby towns (Bethany, Oxford, Prospect and Middlebury) for the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance to review.
