Staff told the boards that documentation for a state parks and recreation grant for upgrades (splash pad, basketball court and playground) has been submitted and the state is preparing a contract.
Planner/staff (speaker 10) said once the state issues a contract the town will be able to bid the project; construction timing will depend on contractor availability and weather. The applicant framed the grant as a two‑year project in their application, and staff said they would check the contract terms and term length and report back.
Board members asked whether work could start this season; staff said it is unlikely to occur this calendar year because the contract issuance, bidding and contractor schedules make earlier start dates difficult. Members agreed to monitor the contract status and return once bid and contract timing are clearer.
No contract award occurred at the meeting; action remains at the documentation and contract‑waiting stage.
