Sanilac County schedules household hazardous waste collection for Sept. 10

County Administrator Nathan told the board the county's household hazardous waste (HHW) event will be held on Sept. 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. and that staff and partners are preparing for heavy traffic at the fairgrounds.
"September 10 from 2 to 6PM," Nathan said, noting recycling staff and the county's recycling coordinator will publicize the event in the paper and on local radio. He described planning to create multi-car lines and route traffic to avoid backups onto adjacent roads and said partners are coordinating to keep as many cars as possible off the main thoroughfares during the fair.
Why it matters: HHW events give residents an opportunity to safely dispose of hazardous materials and reduce environmental risk; the county flagged traffic-management challenges related to concurrent fair activity.
