Commissioners discussed whether the $17,000 could come from ARPA funds; county staff said the project was originally approved for $12,000 and the amendment increases the total to $17,000 to reflect revised plans. Administrator Nathan Roski told commissioners the project has been redesigned multiple times, with earlier estimates above $1,000,000 and later reduced (the board referenced a figure "around $750,000" as a recent target) after value-engineering work. Commissioners said the additional $5,000 at the design stage is intended to refine plans before issuing an RFP for construction.
Board members also noted that the design work and funding source will be revisited as the project moves toward a final drawing and a public RFP. No final construction contract was approved at the meeting; the board authorized only architectural design services up to the stated cap.
