The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 6 approved payment of current county claims totaling $160,607.90 as listed on the accounts payable report dated July 30, 2024. Vice Chairman Roger Ballard moved the payment motion and Commissioner Gary Heberling seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote.
The commissioners also approved a package of budget adoptions, amendments, appropriations and transfers presented as FA107-24. The budget motion was presented without additional discussion and carried by voice vote. Administrator Nathan Roski previously told the board that the county's deficit elimination plans had been accepted by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, a development he said clears certain review matters tied to recent audits.
"I did receive notice back that those were accepted and approved through the Department of Treasury," Roski said during his report, noting the acceptance applies to the deficit plans submitted for two funds.
The approvals at the meeting were routine finance actions required to keep county operations funded. No recorded roll-call vote was taken in the minutes; motions were carried by unanimous voice votes as recorded by the chair.
