Resident Jeff told the council that last spring two hoops were removed at Seminole Glen and that the neighborhood has been active in fundraising and petitioning for a replacement. He said the site has high usage and that the community was prepared to raise money. "We're willing to fundraise to try to get another hoop up," Jeff said.
Parks staff outlined options: add a second hoop on the existing half court (approx. $6,000) or expand to a full court with eastwest orientation (approx. $20,000) because of existing trail, shelter and tree constraints. Council accepted the lower-cost option and noted neighborhood association funds had committed up to $5,000 toward the project; staff and the mayor said the installation could be addressed via a small operating budget amendment or moved into next year's budget planning. The council approved the request by roll call.
