CWICC to reopen Old Town building-improvement grants as tenant activity rises

Committee staff updated trustees on a string of recent Old Town developments and recommended reopening building-improvement grant applications to sustain momentum. Staff cited that 60 E. Waterloo St. has been leased to Sweets of Grace (a new bakery) and Home School Bookstore CW after a building improvement grant funded a new restroom and the space was split for smaller tenants. Mr. Haire asked whether the Committee wanted to reopen applications; the trustees agreed and set a goal for a late-spring submittal deadline.
Additional Old Town activity reported included Harris Lane & Co. returning to a High Street space; ipromo at 25 N. High St. closing and that 1,740 sq. ft. being offered for lease; Don Hartman, Inc.'s building approved for a façade renovation by the Landmarks Commission with the business closing in August and the owner seeking new tenants; and 100 Cemetery Road planned to become Prewitt's Early Education Center. Staff presented these as reasons to continue incentivizing growth in Old Town.
