City to install transformer, new Level 2 DC chargers at Knowlton Street lot

City officials plan to install a new electrical transformer at the Knowlton Street parking lot in mid-August to support planned electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The Mayor said trenching will connect the transformer across the lot and that the chargers are expected to be installed in the September–October timeframe.
"That project is going towards 10 new level 2 DC fast chargers being installed at the, Knowlton Street parking lot that will be publicly accessible," the Mayor said, adding that the transformer work will begin in mid-August and that employee parking will be temporarily affected while crews trench and wire the site. The city said City Hall will remain ADA accessible during construction and will provide public notices about parking availability.
