The Preble County Board of Zoning Appeals voted Feb. 24 to renew a Temporary Use Permit that allows D. Michelle Oliver to occupy a mobile home while receiving daily care. Zoning staff told the Board Oliver’s mother — the original reason for the adjacent mobile home placement — recently died, creating a different caregiving arrangement because the caregiver is now living in the mobile home.
Brad Kramer told the Board staff will discuss future plans with Oliver during the one‑year renewal period and that the county typically gives 30 days to remove a temporary mobile home once the need ends. Board members agreed to an expressed staff recommendation to approve a one‑year renewal to allow Oliver time to grieve and plan. The motion passed unanimously; staff instructed the applicant to coordinate with Cindy Hitchcock and the Zoning office on any follow-up steps.
The one‑year renewal is intended to provide continuity of care while allowing staff and the applicant to develop a longer-term plan if needed.
