Trustees approve 25-foot reduction to setback lines in split vote

On Feb. 24 the Town of Slaughterville Board of Trustees approved Ordinance 2026-01, amending Part 13 of the municipal code to set special setback lines and reducing those setbacks by 25 feet. The motion carried on a 3-2 vote with Trustees Brad Luby, Mayor Steve Easom and Herb Rousey voting in favor and Trustees Leah Grady and Kathy Snellbaker opposed.
The Planning & Zoning Commission had considered a similar reduction but failed to recommend it unanimously because only three commission members were present at the hearing. The ordinance text as presented amends subdivision regulations to establish consistent setbacks for properties abutting county roads, private roads and state highways and declares an emergency in its language; the minutes record the trustees’ vote but do not include a formal recorded amendment text beyond the 25-foot reduction.
