BOE says funding limits and overtime needs shape scope of RCV outreach and staffing

Councilmembers asked whether BOE has sufficient funds, staff and time to deliver a robust RCV rollout. Monica Evans said BOE requested more than the $421,000 it received and that costs such as larger ballots and postage increases were not fully anticipated. "More time, more money means more touch points," Evans told the committee.
Evans said BOE has five individuals in its Voter Education and Outreach Division and an ADA coordinator on staff, but that historically BOE implements new legal requirements with existing staff and occasional additional FTEs rather than a dedicated implementation unit. She said BOE requested overtime funding from the mayor's office and submitted pending reprogramming requests for equipment maintenance and other needs.
