GMP presents narrowed town-hall easement; board declines immediate approval

Tim Jones of GMP presented a revised easement deed for the town-hall project that tightened language to limit discretionary siting of poles and reduced allowable offsets. Jones said the easement language "narrowed it down to 6, which is kind of our standard, you know, offset," and outlined pole lead and anchor dimensions the firm recommended.
Board members expressed concerns about aesthetics (wires across views of the town hall), the technical difficulty and high cost of undergrounding, and compatibility with storm-hardening plans for downtown corridors. Several members acknowledged the revisions struck a balance between resiliency and cost; the board did not make a motion to approve the revised deed at this meeting and asked for more time to consider the design and visual impacts.
