Friends of the Town Hall ask Select Board to form preservation committee

"We received correspondence from Corey Sicklin on behalf of the Friends of the Town Hall group," the chair read to the board, asking members to consider who should sit on any committee. Christine, a member of the town policy committee, urged the board to post openings publicly and fold committee rules into the policy committee’s work so membership and transparency are clear. "I think that it should be put out to the public the same way that the other committees were," Christine said.
The board agreed the policy committee should draft guidance rather than forming a committee immediately. Members noted the policy committee will present a proposed committee structure at its next meeting and then the select board will consider formalizing membership and duties. The chair emphasized that any advisory group should remain open to public attendance and that final policy drafts will be reviewed by town counsel before implementation.
The item was discussed during the correspondence portion of the agenda; no formal motion to create a committee was made at the meeting. The board asked the policy committee to prepare a recommended process and a proposed list of potential members to return to the board at a future meeting.
