Storm downed trees at Eckman Cemetery; town files insurance claim and seeks assessment

"I didn't count them, but I'm gonna guess there's 20 to 30 trees in the cemetery of various sizes," one volunteer told the board, describing leaning pines and at least one pedestal stone with significant damage.
The town has filed an insurance claim and recorded a claim number; board members said it will likely require an assessment by the Vermont Old Cemetery Association and possibly the Vermont League of Cities and Towns before any large-scale recovery or repairs are authorized. Volunteers and local groups offered to assist with stone resetting once the town completes an official assessment.
