Green Mountain Power outlines line rebuilds, requests two town easements; board asks attorney to review

Green Mountain Power representatives updated the Select Board on ongoing rebuilds of overhead infrastructure, saying crews have started the Grafton Halflands Road project and will rebuild a short, storm-prone section on Pequot Mountain.
"You should have gotten two letters, just announcing that we've started the Grafton Halflands Road project," the company representative told the board, outlining work on Pequot Mountain and Grafton Athens Road and noting a project completion target of Sept. 30. The company proposed placing a new pole at the center island near town hall and an anchor lead across the street from the library and submitted two easement deeds for the board's consideration.
Board members raised concerns about proximity to the library building, nearby drainage infrastructure and right-of-way limits. The board voted to have Nick or Connie bring the easement deeds to the town attorney for review before signing. Select Board member moved the motion to authorize attorney review; it was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The town will return the signed easement only after counsel signs off on proximity and right-of-way language and after Green Mountain Power obtains a state highway permit, which the company said would take about 30 days.
