The Select Board opened bids for a hazardous-tree removal project on Wyndham Hill Road and, after discussion about road closures, flagging and wood-handling, awarded the contract to Michael Longo for $12,400. Bids read aloud included Rice Tree Service ($12,800), Arbor Klein (options $12,000 and $14,000), Michael Longo ($12,400), Wilcox ($13,500), Mayotte ($10,995), D & E Tree Company ($15,000) and Safa Tree ($11,500). The town expects to use a 50/50 grant match; the board said it was awarded $88,000 for the project.
Board members discussed whether the grant requires taking the lowest bid; the chair said the grant did not require the town to choose the lowest bid and described the town's bidding process. A motion to award the contract to Michael Longo for $12,400 passed by voice vote; the tree warden stated an abstention because of his role.
