The Select Board discussed holding a special town meeting because the Vermont League of Cities and Towns (VLCT) advised the board it may not have authority to appoint a treasurer to finish a term if the appointee does not live in town. Select board member (S4) told the board that VLCT ‘‘has advised us that we have to have a special town meeting, that the select board does not have the authority to appoint a treasurer to fill out the remainder of the term if the person does not live in town.’’
The board moved the Warning for a special town meeting into new business and agreed to delay any final vote on the Warning until after executive session in case the date or articles need to change. After executive session the board reported it took no action on the Warning or on the personnel matter discussed there.
