Separately, the highway committee requested permission to continue pursuing lease‑to‑own options and financing to replace two highway trucks in fiscal year 2027. The committee said a smaller truck could likely be procured within six months, while heavy trucks and winter equipment have longer lead times (12–24 months). The board, recognizing no money was being committed tonight, gave unanimous consent for the committee to continue researching financing and procurement options and to bring formal RFPs or purchase requests back when ready.
Treasurer and finance transition concerns were noted: the Select Board asked staff to ensure any lease or financing is presented in a manner consistent with town accounting and budget reporting. The highway committee will prepare specifications and RFP documents for board review when procurement is imminent.
