Police report: cadet graduations, Citizen Academy announced and cameras credited with recent identifications

Police Chief Holder told the council that two cadets will graduate Sept. 20 in Forsyth and reminded members about a Police Department banquet on Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. He also announced a Reynolds Police Department Citizen Academy starting Jan. 23, with applications (including background checks) opening Oct. 1 and 15 slots available.
On police technology, Chief Holder said the department has used Flock cameras in recent investigations. "Flock Cameras were able to identify the vehicle of the suspect in the attempted assassination of former President Trump," Chief Holder reported, and he added the department "was able to solve an armed robbery a couple of days ago using the Flock Camera using it to identify the vehicle involved in an armed robbery." Both statements were presented as the chief's reports to the council; the meeting record does not include additional documentation or outside corroboration presented at the session.
The Citizen Academy and training events were presented as outreach and transparency measures; Chief Holder noted the academy will include classes on traffic laws, community policing, firearms discussion, and simulator use. The council did not record additional policy decisions about camera deployments during the report other than the separate contract renewal vote later in the meeting.
