St. Johns County appoints seven members to new Agriculture Advisory Committee
Summary
The Board appointed seven members to the Agricultural Advisory Committee (established by Ordinance 2025-42); three appointees received two-year initial terms and four received three-year initial terms, all beginning April 1, 2026.
At the March 24 meeting the Board appointed seven members to the newly established St. Johns County Agriculture Advisory Committee under Ordinance 2025-42. Shelby Romero presented seven eligible applicants and recommended appointments.
Motion by Commissioner Krista Joseph, seconded by Commissioner Ann Taylor, carried 5–0 to appoint Jackee Dobish, Bill Hamilton, and Frank Johns each to first full terms of two years, and Bryan Jones, Charles "Chuck" Owen, Scott Parker and Christine Wilson each to first full terms of three years, with all terms commencing April 1, 2026. The committee membership requires each member be registered to vote in St. Johns County and meet specified farming experience or operational criteria.
Why it matters: The committee will advise the County on agricultural matters and is composed of residents with commercial farming experience or related agricultural expertise, providing a formal channel for farmer input in county policymaking.
