DC SCORES says mayor's community offices helped expand programming to 68 schools

"DC scores empowers youth to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world," Ramirez said, and she credited support from the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs and the Mayor's Office of Latino Affairs for funding Spanish‑language programming that helps Latinx families participate.
Ramirez described DC SCORES operations across 68 schools (roughly 100 teams and 250–300 coaches and liaisons across programs). She said the program provides transportation and reimbursements for events and runs enhanced programming that includes free trips to local professional soccer games and parent engagement at school events. Ramirez said those supports reduce barriers for families and help achieve consistent participation.
Committee members encouraged collaboration with other city offices (e.g., DPR and after‑school grants) and asked for details about grant amounts; Ramirez said recent MOLA and MOAA grants have ranged roughly "between 10,000 to 15,000" in past years and that exact FY25 amounts were not specified during her testimony.
The committee indicated it will follow up to connect DC SCORES with additional agency funding opportunities and partnerships.
