Legislators unanimously approved accepting and appropriating $20,000 from the New York State Department of Health as a Performance Incentive Award to repair and maintain the county's 'Health Grows Here' mobile unit.
"They plan on using the funds for repair and maintenance of the roof and other items on their 'Health Grows Here' mobile unit," Deputy Commissioner Gretchen Riordan said, explaining the unit's use had been limited by a crack in the ceiling and an expired warranty. Staff indicated the funds will be applied to roof repair, general maintenance and tires so the unit can resume outreach activities in 2026.
Nut graf: The mobile unit supports community outreach events; restoring the vehicle is intended to expand in-person public health services and preventive screenings over the coming year.
