Committee OKs $250,000 for interior repairs to historic 1887 building

The Health and Mental Health Committee approved Feb. 18 a supplemental appropriation of $250,000 (bonding) to the 2026 capital plan for interior repairs to the 1887 building, designated Capital Project No. 131. The motion was moved by Legislator Peter V. Tuohy and seconded by Legislator Glenn R. Ehlers and passed unanimously.
"After touring this historical building she can attest to the work that needs to be done," Chairperson DeShanda T. Carter said in support of the appropriation. County staff specified improvements are limited to interior upgrades not subject to SEQRA. The funding will be added to the capital projects budget and proceed through standard project and procurement processes.
