The Public Safety & Emergency Services Committee voted individually to confirm a slate of reappointments and appointments to the Orange County Fire Advisory Board during its Feb. 19 meeting. Committee members approved each name separately after Legislator Genesis Ramos moved to split the roll-call vote so members could cast individual votes.
The committee confirmed K. Duggan, M. Hunt, T. Sullivan, M. Roe, P. Graham, LaBagh-Glynn, B. Petrick, D. Smith, T. Reynolds and P. Pullar by recorded motion. Reappointment of G. Ferguson passed with one dissent: Legislator Genesis Ramos voted against that nominee. Legislative Counsel Betsy N. Abraham confirmed the committee has authority to separate and vote on nominees individually.
The individual vote approach was requested by Chairman Matthew Fascaldi, who said he wanted to meet nominees before endorsing them, and by Legislator Ramos, who said she opposed at least one candidate. The committee carried the separate-ballot motion and then voted on each name, producing the single recorded dissent. The committee’s vote advances the confirmations to the full Legislature for final action.
