Tree board selects Bluestone to remove invasive trees and replant natives

The council heard an update from the Tree Board that it had selected Bluestone to perform pre-removal work on 35 invasive trees and to replant native trees later in the year. Staff said the removal work must be completed by March 31 because of a protected bat season; stumps will be ground and replaced trees will be planted around November.
The contractor will notify and speak with adjacent property owners about the work and affix QR codes to labeled trees so residents can learn more about each removal and planting. Councilors were informed two trees will not be replanted in the exact original locations due to existing concrete and infrastructure.
