Council considered a resolution to borrow $50,029 to complete the purchase and upfitting of two police vehicles. Clerk/finance staff explained the town had budgeted $45,450 this year toward the purchase, and the total purchase and upfitting cost is roughly $95,000, leaving a shortfall the resolution would cover through a master governmental lease with Peoples Bank.
“As Kenny explained last month, the total purchase and upfitting for the cars is 95,000,” the clerk said while introducing the resolution. Department representative Kenny had earlier described comparative call‑volume changes after police coverage expanded to 24 hours in 2025; staff said the urgency to buy and upfit vehicles was partly to secure available 2024 model pricing and to avoid losing the cars.
Council member (speaker 9) moved to adopt Resolution 2026‑01; the motion was seconded and adopted by voice vote. The council also approved a motion authorizing staff to cut checks to the dealership and to proceed with document signing after the town attorney reviews final documents.
The meeting record does not show a roll‑call tally by member name; the minutes record the measure adopted by voice vote. The clerk and staff said all final loan documents were received that day and that closing could occur as soon as the town signs.
