Library reports busiest August on record, cites summer circulation surge

The Eagle Public Library board heard on Sept. 17 that August was the busiest August on record and that combined circulation for June through August reached “probably about 210,000 items,” a staff member said.
The staff member reported the Meridian Cherry Lane branch is closed for an extended period (estimates ranged from about one to two years), and staff expect some patrons to shift their borrowing patterns to nearby branches such as Orchard Park. The staff also noted the library will close at 2 p.m. Dec. 18 for a city-hosted holiday gathering organized by Mayor Pike. “It’s the busiest August ever,” the staff member said, adding that recently processed materials (referred to in the report as "the Tonys and Yodos") are checking out quickly.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up questions and thanked staff for the report. The board also publicly thanked outgoing Chair Candace for her service to the board.
