Robert Behune, a fundraising consultant with Clyde Capital Group, told the Eagle City Council on Sept. 23 that the Blue Ribbon Committee has secured about $7.3 million in commitments toward Phase 1 of the Eagle Regional Athletic Park, leaving roughly $1.5 million to reach the $8.8 million target.
"As fundraising professionals, we call this the silent phase," Behune said, adding that final negotiations and contracts for the commitments will be drafted in the weeks ahead and presented to the council for approval toward the end of the year. He said he expects the committee to maintain momentum and to participate in a Phase 2 once Phase 1 is complete.
Council members thanked Behune for the update. Mayor Pike and councilmembers emphasized staff work on a soon-to-launch project website and asked that final commitments be brought to council for formal acceptance. Behune singled out city staff Holly, Tracy and Patrick for website work and said the committee has engaged dozens of stakeholders and partners in the fundraising effort.
The presentation provides a schedule the council can use while it reviews related capital-plan and construction items coming back in the next weeks.
