Contractor Triple A Electric submitted a change order after crews discovered a reinforced concrete pour inside a cinder block wall while installing ductwork at the jail. Staff said cutting through the reinforced wall required special equipment and added time and expense.
"We don't think they had any way of knowing what they were gonna get into once they got inside that cinder block wall," a county project representative said. Staff said the change order will be funded from SCAP funds and that the project remains on schedule despite the hiccup. The court approved the change order by unanimous vote.
Project managers reported the overall project is on track and that the change order will not delay the completion date appreciably.
