County staff presented the annual service agreement with Motorola Solutions for maintenance of the countywide radio system and explained the cost rose this year. Staff said the county's regional effort created an additional mobile command dispatch vehicle with four dispatch consoles, effectively adding another dispatch center and increasing service costs.
A staff member described funding the increase from the general administrative account and using the CAD radio budget portion to cover the remainder. "It was a fairly sizable increase this year, about about $4,000 a month," a county staff member said. Commissioners approved the annual agreement.
Staff said the contract remains an annual agreement, not a multi-year commitment, and that budget lines were adjusted to absorb the higher cost this year.
