The Ruston City Council on Nov. 18 approved Resolution 816, authorizing a legal services agreement with Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson PS to represent the city on environmental and real‑estate matters related to the Point Ruston remediation. The agreement names Andy Rigel as lead counsel, with a discounted hourly rate of $616, and Allyson Bazan as a specialist available at a discounted rate of $472 per hour. The firm will advise the city in work involving the Point Ruston Receiver, developers, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State Department of Ecology.
Under the agreement, invoices are payable within 30 days and the city may cancel the contract at any time, in which case the city is responsible only for fees and costs through the cancellation date. Councilmember Huson moved to approve RES 816; the motion passed 4‑0.
