Faaluaina Pritchard of the Asia Pacific Cultural Center presented an overview of APCC's new facility, programming and partnerships during the Nov. 4 Ruston City Council meeting. The presentation materials list an 18,500-square-foot, multiuse building with classrooms, a commercial kitchen, an auditorium and a Hall of Nations; APCC reported the grand opening and an expanded slate of cultural events and youth, mental-health and environmental justice programming in 2025.
APCC's slide materials note a partnership with the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) to provide 78 units of affordable senior housing—Patsy Surh Place—with units set aside for seniors at 30% and 50% of Area Median Income and 39 units reserved for people who were homeless at entry. The presentation includes program counts (hundreds of presentations and tens of thousands served year-to-date) and highlights community engagement, school partnerships and environmental justice grants.
Councilmembers and attendees thanked APCC for the presentation and Talia Thepvongsa publicly commended the organization's accomplishments and promoted the upcoming Ruston Tree Lighting event.
