Commissioners authorize operation of a registered cannabis retail store in Rockwood

The Somerset County Commissioners authorized the operation of a registered cannabis retail store in the Township of Rockwood (Northern Remedies LLC, 3628 Rockwood Road) under Resolution 24-205. Commissioner Cyp Johnson moved the authorization; Commissioner John Alsop seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
County Administrator Tim Curtis noted the State Office of Cannabis Policy now requires medical retail storefronts to be re-licensed annually and asked the board to consider delegating renewal authority to the administration except when issues or new applications require commissioner review. Commissioner Robert Sezak said he would prefer renewals come to the board only when there are problems or new applications; the administrator will prepare a resolution on that point for a future meeting.
