County authorizes up to $5,000 to replace Rockwood Community Center cook stove

Somerset County commissioners authorized up to $5,000 from the Rockwood Community Center Building Fund to replace the facility's cook stove after staff determined the existing unit was not repairable.
U/T Coordinator Dave Spencer said a community letter prompted the inspection and that "the stove was not repairable," and estimated a replacement would cost "between $2,500 and $5,000 for what is needed for the Community Center." Commissioners discussed propane versus electric options and noted the building uses propane for heating the well house; the board favored propane as quicker and easier to install. The motion (Resolution 24-188) carried 5-0.
Spencer will prepare replacement options and price quotes for the commission to consider at the next meeting, and the approved spending authorization allows procurement to proceed up to the $5,000 cap.
