Commissioners award Somerset Courthouse LED contract to IKIO after 4-1 vote

The Somerset County Commission voted 4-1 on Sept. 4 to award the courthouse LED-lighting replacement contract to IKIO of Indianapolis for $64,221 under Resolution 24-176.
County Administrator Tim Curtis reported that the highest and lowest bids were deemed nonresponsive and that IKIO’s bid was the low responsive offer; Quality Electric of Skowhegan submitted a local bid that was $14,000 higher. "The local bid (Quality) was $14,000 higher than IKIO who installs light fixtures that they manufacture," the minutes state.
Commissioner Cyp Johnson moved to award the contract to IKIO; Commissioner Scott Seekins seconded. The motion carried 4-1, with Commissioner John Alsop recorded as the lone no vote.
The minutes do not record further conditions on the contract award or a start date; project oversight and scheduling will be handled through the county procurement process.
