The Calipatria Unified School District Board of Trustees on Jan. 12 approved an MOU with the Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE) to provide school-based mental health services for K–8 students from Jan. 1, 2026, through June 30, 2026. Superintendent Angelita V. Ortiz noted the district already has a counselor at Grace Smith School and described the MOU as the funding/arrangement for services for the remainder of the school year. The motion to approve was made by Trustee Raul Navarro, seconded by Trustee Holly Widmann, and passed by roll call 5 ayes, 2 absent.
