The Calipatria Unified School District Board of Trustees on Jan. 12, 2026, approved a quotation from Johnson Control Fire Protection LP to upgrade or connect campus fire alarm systems so alarms are audible across buildings. The motion to approve was made by Trustee Raul Navarro and seconded by Trustee Holly Widmann and carried by roll call (5 ayes, 2 absent).
Board President Michael Fong described the objective as improving campus safety and communication: "the goal is to have all the building connected so you can hear the fire alarms all over campus." The minutes record no contract amount in open session; supporting documents were filed as Ref VI C (1-14).
