The Alexandria City Council voted to authorize the mayor to grant a special exception to provide water service to Bayou Rapides RV Park on Browns Bend Road, allowing the city to run a 1-inch water main to serve the site outside city limits.
Applicant Rebecca DeSalle told the council she plans a 37-slot RV park with a six-month maximum stay, rules banning perimeter tent camping and a requirement that managers respond to complaints. She said a sponsor—Cleco—has committed $60,000 to help with startup: “They are sponsoring it for $60,000 on, helping me get to where I need to be to have it,” DeSalle said. A council member asked for clarification on what the exception covered; a staff member explained, “All we're doing is run the water 1 inch water main to this place to, give them water.” The council approved the item by voice vote.
