Potter County approves TexShare addendum and Axon migration to cut TechShare storage costs

The court approved a TexShare prosecutor-agreement addendum tied to the county's migration of stored case data from the Azure government cloud into the Axon cloud. County presenters said the migration and associated development work will allow the county to stop paying growing TechShare storage fees and instead rely on Axon'provided unlimited storage included in a current Axon contract.
"It'll eliminate, and these costs, at least for my part, will come from chapter 59 funds," a presenter said, explaining that Potter County will cover development costs initially and may recoup funds later if other counties adopt the tailored code. Staff estimated the change reduces an annual TechShare storage bill that had been growing and described a nine-year savings window under the Axon contract.
The agreement governing scope-of-work and the migration was approved 5-0. Commissioners also approved a related authorization for procurement to solicit professional services needed for migration-related code development and integration work so that different counties and offices can continue to access shared case data across different cloud providers.
