Janelle Evans, director of 2‑1‑1 and chair of Texas Panhandle VOAD, told commissioners that multi-agency coordination has connected dozens of affected households to recovery partners and short-term housing. She said a multi-agency resource center was set up at Amarillo College’s West Campus on May 23 and that partner groups provided food, water, mental‑health support, cleanup and legal and insurance guidance.
Evans read a prepared statement summarizing results: "To date, our coordinated response has resulted in 41 requests for assistance being entered into the discovery disaster recovery system, 41 work orders being claimed by recovery partners, and 40 households being connected to disaster case management services. Additionally, 21 homeowners were temporarily rehoused through Airbnb support while they work to identify long term housing solutions." She urged affected residents to make direct contact with Texas Panhandle VOAD before July 1 so partners can complete intake and case management.
Evans gave contact information for survivors seeking help and said privacy protections prevent sharing lists of affected households. She also noted that VOAD is coordinating referrals to organizations—UMCOR and others—that may provide rebuilding assistance after case management and initial assessments are complete.
