Resident raises alarm about Lake 8 flooding; board to weigh repairs in FY 2025/2026 budget

Rich Batterberry, a resident and NVR of Oak Run, told the River Ridge Community Development District board that water pooling from the monument toward Lake 8 is not receding quickly and "Residents are concerned the water is getting under the foundations." The board heard that one homeowner "incurred significant costs trying to mitigate water coming up through the floor."
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the scope of work performed at Seaside and said because the Lake 8 area was never regraded, completing work similar to Seaside could address the standing-water issues. Bob Schultz, chair, said the matter "would be considered during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process."
Eric Long later identified the Lake 8 stormwater management project as an upcoming forecast item; staff told the board the work, along with asphalt and gutter repairs and replacement of aging irrigation, will be included in future budget planning. The board took no immediate spending action and directed staff to include the Lake 8 need in the budget cycle for further consideration.
