The committee voted unanimously on Jan. 20 to recommend PR26-229, the reappointment of Tiara Brewer as a voting member of the Commission on Fashion Arts and Events for a term ending April 15, 2029.
Chair Brianne Nadeau summarized Brewer's qualifications, noting her prior service on the commission since 2023, more than 10 years of fashion and corporate experience, work with Fortune 500 companies and nonprofits such as Yay Me and Safe Passage, oversight of roughly 3,000 global products and projects in her current role, and degrees from Bowie State University and Berkeley College.
"The reappointment of Ms. Brewer is in accordance with DC official code 3-6-5651(a). The committee concludes the nominee meets the qualifications for membership on the commission and therefore recommends her nomination," Nadeau said. The committee moved to approve PR26-229 with leave for staff to make technical and conforming changes; members indicated "aye" and the chair announced the ayes were unanimous.
The Commission on Fashion Arts and Events advises the mayor, council and public on the needs of the fashion and beauty industry and consists of 15 members, eight of whom are mayoral appointees subject to Council advice and consent; appointees must be District residents and serve four-year terms.
