Residents raise safety concerns over tall weeds; village to pursue code enforcement

Multiple residents and trustees raised property-maintenance and public-safety concerns at the Aug. 14 meeting. Resident Larry Richie told the board that "there are weeds obstructing the stop sign on Main and Witt Street," creating a safety hazard, and that a vacant lot at the same intersection is overgrown. Richie also said reservoir vegetation "are really tall on the north side of the reservoir" and suggested aqua-control companies could help.
Trustee Billy Cohen said he rode with Police Chief Stan Workman to review problem properties, that he was unable to reach the owner of the Main and Witt property, and that the old school site is overgrown. Cohen said he will gather updated photographs so Clerk Carissa Grider can send a second ordinance-violation letter. The police report was submitted and is on file with the clerk; no enforcement hearing or fine amounts were recorded in the meeting minutes.
