A resident told the council he has documented progressive erosion on a town road he says is caused by heavy equipment and inadequate drainage tied to activity at the DESCO site. He urged the council to schedule a meeting with DESCO and be involved in determining repairs: "This is the degradation of the road from the side ... DESCO needs to pay for it." The resident said he had taken clearer photos to show how the road edge is narrowing and that runoff has reached the Haw River.
Staff said they sent personnel and engineers to assess the site and had spoken to DESCO; they are waiting for additional information from the company and will continue to evaluate access and impacts. The resident said he is already paying to keep the road passable and asked the town who to send an invoice to if the town does not pursue remediation.
