Commissioners approve multiple right-of-way permits for broadband and utilities

Henderson County approved a batch of 13 right‑of‑way permits including Brightspeed Communications projects (Jones Drive, Driftwood Drive), residences drops, Atmos Energy temporary-drive relocations and a Spectrum bore/vault; all motions passed unanimously.
Commissioners reviewed and approved multiple right-of-way permit requests covering broadband and utility work across Henderson County.
Commissioner Spivey described a Brightspeed Communications proposal that includes placing handholes, boring 1,559 feet and installing 1,258 feet of aerial fiber on county roads (Jones Drive and Driftwood Drive in Precinct 1). "This proposed utility aligned activities with Brightspeed Communications ... placing 3 24 inch by 36 inch hand holes and boring 1,559 feet and placing 4 bore pits on County Road portion of Jones Drive," the commissioner said. The court voted to authorize the commissioners to sign the permits.
The court also approved Atmos Energy adjustments to temporary drive crossings (County Roads 3715 and 3814), Brightspeed residential interduct drops and a Spectrum Gulf Coast LLC request to bore 150 feet and place a vault at 5851 County Road 4319. Each request was presented, seconded and approved by unanimous vote.
County staff will process the signed permits and monitor compliance with construction and restoration requirements in the right of way.
