Planning Commission recommends no data centers and flags incomplete sidewalks in Horn Silver subdivision

Council Member Tayson Willis reported on the June 10 Planning Commission meeting. Commissioners recommended forwarding the City’s General Plan and Annexation Policy Plan to the City Council for adoption at the July meeting. The Commission also determined data centers are not an appropriate land use within Milford City boundaries and will prepare an ordinance prohibiting such facilities.
Willis also reviewed the Horn Silver subdivision’s approval history: although sidewalks, curb and gutter were conditions of the original approval, only 14 of the 24 residential lots currently have sidewalks. The Commission recommended that future development require sidewalk installation in accordance with City standards and discussed potential cost‑sharing or assistance programs to encourage existing property owners to install missing sidewalks. The council requested the sidewalk matter be placed on a future agenda for additional review.
